Alona Barkat aims high: a major deal is on the way
A significant deal is emerging for Hapoel Be'er Sheva: following a series of signings from abroad and the local league, the club is working on another impressive defensive reinforcement on a free transfer.
Alona Barkat is aiming for another championship title, and her actions on the pitch reflect this ambition. The owner of last season's national champion is preparing for the 2026/2027 season and clearly has no intention of relinquishing the title easily.
Ahead of the new season, Hapoel Be'er Sheva has added several prominent players to coach Ran Kozuch's squad, including acquisitions from abroad alongside reinforcements from the local league.
Among the new arrivals are Joao Victor, a 22-year-old Brazilian winger purchased from Hungary's Zalaegerszeg for approximately 1.7 million euros, and 27-year-old Portuguese left-back Pedro Amador, who joined from Atlanta United (MLS). Both have signed four-season contracts. They are joined by Itay Rotman, Niv Yehoshua, and Marco Wolf.
Now, the club's management is working on another high-profile acquisition. The team is in negotiations with 28-year-old Cameroonian center-back Oumar Gonzalez (1.86m), a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Saudi club Al-Raed. Gonzalez, a product of the French Metz academy with nine caps for the Cameroon national team, could be the next major addition to the champion's defensive roster.
