Four Arrested Over Extortion and Attacks on Businessman Alon Algali
Four suspects from the Abu Ganem family were arrested for allegedly extorting businessman Alon Algali through threats, gunfire, and grenades to force him off a construction project.

Four suspects from the Abu Ganem family were arrested on Monday on suspicion of extorting businessman Alon Algali and his business partner. According to the investigation, the suspects targeted Algali with threats, gunfire, and the throwing of stun grenades in an attempt to force their company to withdraw from a major construction project.
The intimidation campaign included a grenade thrown last Friday at the home of Algali's partner in Moshav Aseret, followed two weeks earlier by a massive shooting attack targeting Algali's residence in Moshav Ahisamach. The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of the four suspects by consent until Thursday.
Defense attorney Oren Sasson rejected the allegations against his clients, claiming they are working-class, law-abiding individuals who provided detailed alibis and accounts that law enforcement must thoroughly investigate.
The arrests shed new light on a turbulent year experienced by Algali, which included two massive fires at his Ahisamach property within just two and a half months. In March 2025, a major blaze broke out during a Purim party hosted at his estate, miraculously resulting in no injuries.
Roughly two months later, in May, fire struck the complex again, completely destroying his private horse ranch as firefighters struggled to rescue trapped animals. The sequence of events, initially attributed to misfortune, now takes on a chilling context amid the severe extortion and violence investigations.
