The National Insurance Institute is an institution designed to help the country's residents avoid financial distress due to factors beyond their control, such as illness, injury, or old age. In two days, on August 20, child allowances will be distributed to those eligible. This is a monthly payment that the institute transfers to families in Israel to assist with upbringing expenses.

The allowance is paid for children up to age 18. Eligibility and the amount are determined by the number of children in the family and other data. According to the government agency, the funds are transferred to the parent's bank account, and the allowance does not depend on whether the parent is working or not. In addition to the monthly allowance, there is the "Savings for Every Child" program, under which the National Insurance Institute deposits a monthly amount for every child up to age 18.

As of January 1, 2026, the amount is determined by the child's position in the family:

  1. First child: 173 NIS

  2. Second child: 219 NIS

  3. Third child: 219 NIS

  4. Fourth child: 219 NIS

  5. Fifth child and onwards: 173 NIS

A child who immigrated to Israel without their parents can receive the child allowance in their own name. Furthermore, the National Insurance Institute deposits 58 NIS each month for every child as part of the "Savings for Every Child" program. Parents can choose to add another 58 NIS from the child allowance, so that the monthly savings will amount to 116 NIS. In most cases, the allowance is paid automatically and is credited to the account on the 20th of each month.
