Israeli security forces have uncovered an underground passage near the West Bank village of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, used for illegal crossings into Israeli territory. Border Police and IDF troops found that the route utilized existing sewage infrastructure, with its entrance ingeniously concealed beneath a parked commercial vehicle that allowed direct access from inside the vehicle.

During the joint operation, authorities apprehended 32 undocumented individuals who had crossed into the Beit Hanina area, alongside four suspects detained on charges of aiding and abetting their illegal entry. All 36 detainees were transferred to the Border Police Jerusalem Envelope investigative unit for further questioning.

Security officials noted that this discovery highlights the growing challenge of hidden subterranean routes that bypass physical barriers by exploiting existing municipal infrastructure, raising concerns about potential security exploitation.

Unlike previous underground discoveries in the West Bank—such as shafts found in Qalqilya and Hebron in recent months that were not proven to connect to Israeli territory—the al-Ram passage was actively utilized for illegal crossings, though no direct militant activity has been linked to the site thus far.
