Israeli Tech Initiative Uses AI to Help Reservists Save on Car Repairs
Israeli entrepreneurs have launched 'Sa Kafara', a social initiative utilizing an AI WhatsApp assistant to help IDF reservists and students find reliable mechanics and secure auto repair discounts.

Finding a reliable and affordable auto repair shop can often be a daunting task for drivers, particularly amid the rising cost of living in Israel. To address this challenge, two Israeli entrepreneurs, Itamar Eliash and Gil Litvin, launched a social initiative named 'Sa Kafara'. The platform aims to help IDF reservists and university students reduce vehicle-related expenses by connecting them with vetted mechanics offering substantial discounts.
AI-Powered WhatsApp Assistant and Network Growth
The initiative was conceived after Eliash spent hours calling various garages to help a friend who had recently completed a lengthy reserve duty tour. Realizing how complex the process was—and how eager many business owners are to support reservists and students—Eliash teamed up with Litvin, an AI developer. Using advanced tools such as Claude and Netlify, Litvin built a dedicated website and an AI-powered WhatsApp assistant named Amos, after the friend who inspired the project.
Within just four months, the platform has grown rapidly, onboarding more than 5,000 members and approximately 150 garages across Israel that offer discounts ranging from 10% to 50%. Users register on the platform to receive a digital membership card, access the vetted network, and utilize the WhatsApp assistant for price comparisons and maintenance reminders.
Expanding Beyond Garages
Looking ahead, the founders plan to expand the initiative to cover additional automotive services, including insurance, vehicle purchases, and rentals. Despite growing corporate interest, the creators emphasize that the core platform will remain completely free, leveraging artificial intelligence to maintain high operational efficiency while delivering meaningful social impact.
