Clashes Erupt Between Citizens and Iranian Regime Forces
Hours before Iran executed two participants in January's anti-regime protests, clashes broke out between citizens and security forces in Isfahan, reports "Iran International".
A few hours before Iran executed Abolfazl Safaei Badjani and Amir-Hossein Safari Hossein-Abadi, two participants in the anti-regime protests from January, citizens and family members of those sentenced to death gathered at Ali-Khani Square in Isfahan. As reported today (Tuesday) by "Iran International", clashes broke out between them and the regime's security forces.
The judiciary announced that on Tuesday morning, the death sentences of Badjani and Hossein-Abadi were carried out. The report states that large forces were deployed in the area, accompanied by motorcycles, armored vehicles, and heavy weaponry. At the same time, disruptions in internet access were reported throughout the city.
Even before the sentences were carried out, metal scaffolding was erected in the square, and cranes used for executions were brought to the site. Next to the structures, a sign was hung with the inscription:
"Justice will be served sooner or later."
This message increased fears among family members that the executions were imminent. Shortly thereafter, authorities confirmed the sentences had been carried out. The two men were arrested following the protests that broke out in January. According to the Iranian judicial system, they were convicted of direct involvement in the deaths of four security personnel at Ali-Khani Square, and their sentences were approved by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Crown Prince published a speech yesterday marking six months since the "heinous massacre of protesters," declaring:
"This is the time to regroup, reorganize, and rededicate ourselves to victory. We honor the fallen by completing what they started."
