Unusual Accusation in Eilat: "Police Beat Me and Left Me to Die in the Mountains"
A distressing video testimony from a Dimona resident is causing a stir on social media. He claims that police officers in Eilat tackled him, handcuffed him, and abandoned him in a remote area, but the police have strongly denied the allegations.
A 37-year-old resident of Dimona, a member of the African Hebrew Israelite community, claims he was a victim of severe police violence while visiting Eilat. According to his testimony, plainclothes officers jumped on him as he left a club, handcuffed his hands and feet, and then took him to the mountains outside the city, where he was attacked again and abandoned.
In a video testimony uploaded to social media, the complainant, Yadin, described the incident with pain:
"They threw me on the floor and said, 'We will make an example of this.' They broke me with blows while I was in handcuffs on my feet and hands. How do I explain to my child that police officers beat me and left me to die?"
On the other hand, the Israel Police strongly reject the accusations and present a different version. They stated that officers approached the man following a complaint from two women who claimed he was harassing them. According to the police, after he did not comply with instructions to move away and avoid contact with them, he was detained and led to a patrol car.
Furthermore, the police noted that after the purpose of the detention was achieved, the man was released on the spot at his own request. "The results of the investigation we conducted are not consistent with the claims regarding violent conduct by the police," they clarified.
Police officials emphasized that if there is a suspicion of criminal offense by officers, the matter should be referred to the Department of Internal Police Investigations (Mahash) as the authorized body, while the resident stands by his version and demands a comprehensive investigation.
