Umbrella agreement in Sderot: 7,700 apartments to be built with an investment of 4.5 billion shekels
The city will expand north and south to accommodate thousands of new families. The agreement was signed following the completion of the marketing of nearly 3,000 apartments in two new neighborhoods last August.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mayor of Sderot Alon Davidi signed an umbrella agreement worth 4.5 billion shekels for the construction of 7,700 housing units in the city. The move is being promoted as part of the process of rehabilitating the Western Negev communities after October 7.
The plan, promoted in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Ministry of Finance, and the Tkuma Administration, is intended to enable the development of infrastructure, public institutions, and municipal services required alongside the construction of the new neighborhoods. The move comes after the marketing of 2,868 apartments was completed in August in the first phase of the Academy and Tkumat Yisrael neighborhoods in the southwest of the city.
The umbrella agreement is intended to serve as a foundation for the demographic and economic expansion of the city and to assist in attracting new families to the area. The Mayor of Sderot noted that the addition of apartments and neighborhoods is a necessary step for the continued strengthening and development of the city and is intended to support expansion efforts following the damage to the region.
