Fatal accident in Ashkelon: One woman killed, two injured
The incident involved three buses on David Remez Street in Ashkelon. The bus driver and passengers were unharmed. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the event.
A woman in her 60s was killed on Tuesday in a fatal traffic accident on David Remez Street in Ashkelon involving three buses. Two other women in their 60s sustained serious and moderate injuries.
MDA paramedics and EMTs provided medical treatment at the scene and evacuated the victims to Barzilai Hospital with multi-system trauma. The report of the incident was received at the MDA 101 emergency center in the Lachish district at 14:06. The woman was trapped under the bus, and after rescue operations, medical teams were forced to declare her death at the scene.
The bus driver, a 45-year-old man, was not injured in the accident, nor were the bus passengers. Officers from the Ashkelon station and traffic accident investigators from the Lachish district have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
"This is a severe traffic accident," said MDA paramedic Doron Bar-Shishet and EMT Ben Dollinger, who operated at the scene. "We received several reports of a bus that hit pedestrians at a bus stop. When we arrived, we saw a woman trapped under the bus, unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing. During the rescue operations, we performed medical checks, but unfortunately, we were forced to declare her death at the scene."
