Abir Kara on his way back to politics: This is the party he is expected to join
The former Knesset member and deputy minister is holding talks about joining the former prime minister's new party, ahead of a possible return of the founder of the 'Shulmanim' to the political system.
Another political comeback on the way? Former Knesset member and deputy minister Abir Kara is in advanced negotiations to join the new party of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, "Beyad" (Together).
Kara, who served as a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Office under Bennett and served as a Knesset member for the "Yamina" faction, is currently examining his return to the political forefront, after having held talks in recent months with officials in other parties as well, as revealed in "Israel Hayom".
The founder of the self-employed movement "Ani Shulman" has become in recent years one of the most prominent representatives of the struggle of the self-employed and small businesses in Israel, while promoting reforms in free market issues and lowering the cost of living. In the election campaign for the 25th Knesset, Kara ran at the head of the "Economic Freedom" party, but received about 0.33% of the votes (about 16 thousand votes) and did not pass the electoral threshold.
So far, Bennett has revealed some of the prominent figures expected to be included in his list for the Knesset, including former Director General of the Ministry of Finance Keren Terner, former Director General of the Ministry of Communications Liran Avishar Ben-Horin, Yonatan Shalev, Shahar Varon, Michal Negri, and Amir Strugo.
As recalled, Bennett recently addressed openly the issue of the trial and pardon of Benjamin Netanyahu. In a conversation held as part of journalist Itai Segal's podcast on the All In podcast network, Bennett declared that he supports ending the legal proceedings and granting a pardon to the Prime Minister - but set a clear and unequivocal condition:
"A complete and final retirement of Netanyahu from the political arena."
