6.8 million spectators and 5.5 million beers: The numbers of the 2026 World Cup
FIFA summarized the World Cup: 675,000 hot dogs, 4.6 million soft drinks, and nearly 300,000 workers took part in the operation that lasted 39 days.

FIFA published yesterday (Monday) the summary data from the 2026 World Cup, held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, and the numbers illustrate the massive scale of the tournament. In total, 6.8 million spectators visited the 16 stadiums, arriving from 200 countries.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino wrote on social media that nearly seven million people enjoyed the tournament in 16 cities, and emphasized that no incidents, hostility, or acts of violence were recorded.
The organization's statement noted that the 2026 World Cup provided unforgettable football, attendance records, and historic moments, but behind every goal, celebration, and match experience stood operational and logistical activity on a scale never before seen in the world of sports.
Nearly 300,000 people took part in operating the tournament, including about 43,000 volunteers and 73,700 security personnel. Together, they performed nearly one million different shifts throughout the 39 days of the competition.
Food and beverage data were also exceptional. Inside the stadiums, about 675,000 hot dogs were sold, which, according to FIFA, would stretch for about 135 kilometers if laid side by side — a distance equal to more than 1,350 football pitches connected in a row.
Alongside the hot dogs, 4.6 million non-alcoholic drinks and 5.5 million cups of beer were sold. FIFA concluded that almost every aspect of the tournament was conducted on a scale unprecedented in the history of the World Cups.
