41 New IDF Ground Forces Commanders Receive 'Erez' Wings
The first class of the Erez program has completed three years of training, including a commando course, academic studies, and operational experience. The 41 graduates received their Erez wings and will now proceed to officer training for ground units.
A new generation of ground forces commanders has emerged as the first class of the 'Erez' program concludes its training. This unique three-year track prepares cadets to become officers within the IDF's maneuvering units.
"The strength of the army is not measured only by planes, tanks, or technology; it is measured by the quality of the platoon and company commanders. Do not settle for just going with the flow; join it and then steer it," said Brigadier General Yuval Bezek, the project's lead.
The graduation ceremony took place on Thursday at the 'Regavim' camp, located at the Golani Brigade training school. It was held under the leadership of Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai, Ground Forces Commander Major General Nadav Lotan, and Erez program head Brigadier General (res.) Yuval Bezek, in the presence of various corps and brigade commanders.
Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir met with the cadets prior to the ceremony to discuss the nature of command during wartime, the significance of their service, and the responsibility placed upon the next generation of leaders. He commended the young officers for their commitment.
The three-year training curriculum included intensive instruction at the Golani base, a commando course, bachelor's degree studies, advanced military training, and operational experience in various sectors under assigned brigades.
During the ceremony, the 41 graduates were awarded their Erez wings for the first time. Having integrated into operational activities during their training, they are now set to continue to officer training and serve as commanders across all Ground Forces corps.
Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai stated:
"The core of this elite program is to grow a new generation of commanders who combine professional excellence with depth of thought, and personal achievement with national responsibility. You are not just the first to finish this track; you are the first who will head to the battlefield and carry this responsibility on your shoulders."
Erez program head Brigadier General (res.) Yuval Bezek added:
"Three years ago, we set out on this journey together. You are the pioneers. Two weeks after we began, the earth shook. I lost Guy, my Guy—a young fighter who believed in the mission with all his heart. When a person loses someone they love, they look for meaning within the pain. For me, the Erez program became part of that path. I lost Guy and I received you—not as a replacement, but as a hope that it is possible to grow from the fracture."
