Super League teams' preparation for the 2026/27 season is reaching its final stages, with Maccabi Haifa currently visiting Bnei Sakhnin in the final round of the Toto Cup. The Greens achieved their first victory in the competition in the last round, while the hosts are still on 0 points.
Barak Bakhar's team started the season on the wrong foot, with losses to Hapoel Haifa (3:2) and Ironi Kiryat Shmona (3:0), and lost the chance to qualify for the semi-finals, but managed to beat Ironi Tiberias in the last game (2:4) and hopes to record another win just before the league starts in about two weeks.
Yossi Abukasis' team continues to look for its first points in the competition, and will try to finish the group stage with a slightly sweeter taste and better performance than what has been seen so far, after recording three losses to Ironi Tiberias, Hapoel Haifa, and Ironi Kiryat Shmona.
In the last ten meetings between the teams, Maccabi Haifa has dominated with eight wins against two draws. The last meeting between them was in the 23rd round of last season, when the Haifa side thrashed Sakhnin 4:0 with goals from Lisab Issat, Cedric Don, Michael Ohana, and Guy Melamed. The last time Sakhnin beat the Carmel side was in the 2020 Toto Cup, when the game ended 1:0 with a goal by Muhammad Khalaila.
First half
15' — Bruninho took the set piece and tried to surprise from a long distance, but Raul Belrau managed to close the near corner in time and catch the ball.
14' — First yellow card shown to Ahmad Taha, after he stopped a counterattack by Iyad Khalaily with his hands.
4' — Bruninho tried to warm up his leg after just over three minutes, but his attempt rolled straight into the hands of Bnei Sakhnin goalkeeper, Andre Raul Belrau.
1' — Referee Yoni Klez started the match! Will Maccabi Haifa finish the Toto Cup group stage on a sweet note, or will Bnei Sakhnin get their first points in the competition at their expense?
