11 years after the attack: The legalization of the Malachi HaShalom settlement has been completed
Established following the murder of Malachi Rosenfeld, the residents of Malachi HaShalom celebrated this week the completion of the legalization process of the settlement, which currently numbers about 40 families. Rosenfeld was murdered in a shooting attack at the Gideon junction after returning from a basketball game. In 2023, the site was recognized by a government decision.

After the murder of Malachi Rosenfeld (may his memory be blessed) in a terrorist attack about 11 years ago, a group of pioneers went up to a point in eastern Binyamin and established an agricultural farm there. This week, the residents celebrated the completion of the official legalization process of the settlement of "Malachi HaShalom," which currently numbers about 40 families and serves as a community center for farms in the area.
The settlement is named after Malachi Rosenfeld and Shalom (Shuli) Har-Melech (may his memory be blessed), who was also murdered in a terrorist attack in the area. The historical roots of the site date back to 1976, when the Nahal outpost "Mevo Shilo" was established there. In 2023, the place was recognized by a government decision, and now all stages of administrative legalization have been fully completed.
The chairman of the settlement, Yochanan Rosenzweig, thanked the assisting parties and called for preserving the agricultural character of the place alongside urban development: "We have the responsibility to continue finding the way for a farm that operates alongside a settlement, and not a settlement that erases a farm. Malachi HaShalom will be happy to be a trailblazer in this matter as well."
