The issue of tipping in US restaurants has become a major topic of debate. With digital tipping options reaching 18–22%, more establishments are moving toward a "no-tip" model, incorporating service costs directly into menu prices.

A viral TikTok video has sparked a debate over tipping culture: a couple claimed prices at Shake Shack increased after they chose not to tip. The company insists the incident was caused by a technical glitch.

A Shake Shack customer uploaded a video to the web, which went viral with about 4.2 million views, and said that he decided not to tip for a milkshake order he made at a branch at the Salt Lake City airport, and was stunned to see that the price of the product increased.

A national survey in Germany reveals that more than half of the public views digital tipping screens negatively. Over 20% of respondents admit to reducing their tips since the transition to digital terminals.
