Oron Shaul

Zehava Shaul, mother of Staff Sergeant Oron Shaul, passed away at 71 after a battle with cancer. She was laid to rest today at the Poriya Illit cemetery alongside her husband and son.

Zehava Shaul, who passed away at the age of 71 last Friday, led a decade-long struggle to bring her son home for burial in Israel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Herzl, and her son Oron, whose body was recovered from the Gaza Strip in January 2025.

Following the passing of Zahava Shaul, mother of the late IDF soldier Oron Shaul, singer Idan Amedi published a moving tribute. He shared personal memories of their meetings and the sense of closure she found after her son was finally laid to rest.

A year and a half after her son's body was extracted from the Gaza Strip and brought to burial in Poriya Illit, his mother, Zehava Shaul, has passed away. For a decade, she stood at the forefront of the public struggle for his return, which concluded in early 2025.
