Supreme Court justices rejected the petitions regarding the placement of polling stations in nursing homes and assisted living facilities after the Central Elections Committee formulated an alternative outline on its own initiative. However, President Amit sharply criticized the Knesset's refusal to legislate a permanent arrangement for the elderly population who have difficulty moving.

The state is considering placing 159 polling stations in nursing homes for the upcoming elections to allow residents to vote on-site. 127 of these locations have already been confirmed as accessible, following a petition by senior citizens to the Supreme Court.

Former Director General of the Central Elections Committee, Adv. Orly Adas, was interviewed on 103FM and addressed the criticism regarding the decision not to place polling stations in nursing homes during the upcoming elections.

The Supreme Court criticized the rejection of the arrangement that allowed for polling stations to be placed in nursing homes with 75 or more residents, and warned of harm to the elderly's ability to exercise their right to vote. The Central Elections Committee was required to provide an update by Monday.

56 senior citizens, the Association of Organizations for the Elderly, and the Marva organization filed a petition demanding accessible voting for nursing home residents. Supreme Court President Isaac Amit said at the hearing: "The previous arrangement worked excellently in the last elections."
