Hurricane Lane

The storm strengthened to a Category 1 hurricane and approached the Big Island with winds of about 120 km/h. Nearly 24,000 people were left without power, roads and airports were closed, and residents were evacuated to shelters. Up to 635 mm of rain may fall. If the hurricane's center makes landfall, it could be a historic hit for the island.
