Food allergy: skin contact with the allergen did not cause a dangerous reaction
An Israeli study that examined skin exposure to allergens in children with food allergies found that the contact did not cause any severe reaction. However, it did not include children who had previously experienced a severe allergic reaction, so the need for environmental consideration and the removal of allergens from public spaces remains in effect.

Is it enough for a child with a food allergy to accidentally touch peanuts, milk, or an egg to develop a life-threatening reaction? A new Israeli study, one of the largest of its kind, provides an answer that may reduce parental anxiety: accidental contact of an allergenic food with healthy skin does not cause a life-threatening systemic allergic reaction.
