Erez Kalfon

Israeli professional football leagues will hold memorial ceremonies this weekend for October 7 victims, with players wearing black armbands during matches.

Following a violent incident at a Hapoel Petah Tikva match where a steward struck a fan with an iron rod, Erez Kalfon, chairman of the Football Leagues Administration, will again appeal to Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to include stewarding in the list of 'preferred jobs.' Walla! Sport has learned that Kalfon previously sent similar requests in December 2024, which remained unanswered.

Following the violent confrontation at the Hapoel Petah Tikva match, during which a team fan was beaten by a security guard, the chairman of the Leagues Administration sent a letter to the Police Commissioner demanding a thorough investigation: 'An unacceptable incident'.
