Economic Isolation

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent addressed on Thursday the economic isolation announced by President Donald Trump, sending a sharp message to the regime in Tehran. In response to statements by the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf, Bessent said with disdain: "I wouldn't buy a rug from this guy," directly accusing him of stealing from the Iranian people.

The US Treasury Secretary announced that the United States plans to take economic steps against Iran next week that are unprecedented in history. These measures will combine total economic isolation with a continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to prevent any traffic in or out of Iranian ports.
