Avalanche

At an altitude of 5,000 meters, local residents climbing in the Himalayas discovered the remains of mountaineers who went missing during an avalanche last November. Nepalese police have resumed recovery efforts, though severe weather is currently hampering helicopter access.

Nirmal Purja, who broke the world climbing record, has died in Pakistan alongside nine other expedition members. The organizing company confirmed the tragedy, and his business partner stated that tracking data showed him being swept down the mountain.
