Culture and Sport Minister Miki Zohar sparked a political outcry by rejecting calls for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assume solo responsibility for the October 7 disaster. During an interview on 103fm, Zohar shifted the focus to opposition leaders and former security chiefs, questioning whether figures like Gadi Eisenkot, Yair Golan, Naftali Bennett, and Avigdor Lieberman have taken accountability.
Zohar argued that national responsibility must be shared collectively by everyone who held leadership positions, asserting that attempting to exempt the opposition bloc from blame is biased and unfair.
Meanwhile, despite ongoing political tensions, Zohar recently announced the opening of submissions for the 2026 Israeli Film Awards, aiming to honor local creators and showcase original domestic cinema following last year's success.
