Former Ministry Director-General Yossi Silman Passes Away at 66
Former Ministry of Welfare Director-General Yossi Silman passed away at the age of 66. Silman, a retired Brigadier General, also served as CEO of Holon and Pardes Hanna-Karkur.
Former Director-General of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs Yossi Silman passed away on Thursday at the age of 66. The Ministry, Minister Chaim Katz, Director-General Yinon Aharoni, and the Workers Council expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his extensive public service and dedication to Israeli citizens.
Silman, a Brigadier General (res.), served as Director-General of the Ministry between 2013 and 2015 under Minister Meir Cohen, where he led significant reforms in social services. In addition to his national service, Silman served as Director-General of the Holon Municipality from 2017 to 2020 and was appointed Director-General of the Pardes Hanna-Karkur Local Council in April 2021.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Silman enlisted in the Armored Corps, commanded the 500th Brigade, served as Head of the Operations Branch for the Central Command, and commanded the Sinai Division before retiring from the IDF in 2003 with the rank of Brigadier General.
He held a bachelor's degree in logistics and economics from Bar-Ilan University and a master's degree in business administration from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
