Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Blames Itamar Ben Gvir for Yeshiva Student Arrests
Former Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef blamed National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for yeshiva student arrests, sparking political fallout and upcoming mass protests.

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Criticizes Itamar Ben Gvir Over Yeshiva Student Arrests
Former Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef launched a sharp attack against Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, holding him directly responsible for the recent wave of arrests targeting yeshiva students. Speaking at a Torah scroll dedication ceremony for his son-in-law, Rabbi Baruch Deri, Yosef stated that Ben Gvir bears the blame rather than Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.
"He is doing this intentionally to provoke yeshiva students so they won't vote for Shas. It must be publicized that he is to blame for everything," Rabbi Yosef declared.
United Torah Judaism MK Yaakov Asher joined the criticism, calling on Ben Gvir to halt the continued enforcement measures by the Israel Police.
Escalating Political Tensions and Protests
As political fallout intensifies ahead of the upcoming elections, the Committee for the Salvation of the World of Torah announced plans for mass demonstrations in Jerusalem and the Gush Dan region. Organizers stated that thousands of protesters are expected to take to the streets following instructions from Rabbi Azriel Auerbach.
The protests come amid deep divisions within the political landscape, as religious factions trade accusations over the handling of military draft exemptions and law enforcement policies affecting seminary students.
