Yonit Levi on the "slow decline" of summer: How parents survive

The anchor of the 12th Channel's main news edition, Yonit Levi, is usually identified with a serious facial expression, stateliness, and absolute control over every detail in the studio. However, when the screens go dark and she returns home to her three children with Ido Rosenblum at the end of a sweltering August, it turns out that even her iron discipline collapses into the chaos familiar to every parent.

In the latest episode of the successful podcast Unholy, which she hosts alongside British journalist Jonathan Freedland, Levi provided a rare and amusing glimpse into her home dynamics during the summer vacation.

Levi shared with her listeners how the summer months began with quite strict educational pretensions, including reading books, limiting screen time, and daily enrichment lessons, while she was convinced that "everything would be healthy and lovely." But time took its toll, and parental ideology was replaced by daily survival.

"Anyone who has small children will be able to identify," she explained to Freedland honestly. "In the last few days, I feel the slow decline from the beginning of the summer."

The new routine in the Levi-Rosenblum household, just before the first bell of the school year, is completely different from that of early July. Levi described with great humor the acceptance of fate and the granting of permissions for unusual activities:

"Yes, you can watch K Pop Demon Hunters for the fourth time today, and of course, three milkshakes are exactly what is needed. You can eat frozen nuggets with gummy bears."

Freedland was very amused by the confession and admitted that the wild version of the end of the summer appeals to him much more than the didactic learning of its beginning. Levi concluded the parental confession with one sentence that captures the general feeling:
