Ramat Gan Safari Names Newborn Zebra After Israeli Singer Yardena Arazi
The Ramat Gan Safari named a newborn zebra after legendary Israeli singer Yardena Arazi in honor of her 75th birthday, delighting the artist during her live radio show.
To celebrate the 75th birthday of legendary Israeli singer Yardena Arazi, the Ramat Gan Safari has decided to name a newborn zebra after her. The young zebra, born at the safari on July 19, will henceforth be known as Yardena.
The heartwarming surprise was revealed during Arazi's Friday radio show on Kan Bet, which she co-hosts with her former "Chocolate Menta Mastik" bandmates, Ruthie Holzman and Leah Lupatin. The co-hosts shared the unique birthday tribute live on air, delighting the singer.
The safari explained that the tribute stems from Arazi's long-standing connection to the wildlife park. Arazi has been a loyal annual subscriber for years, keeping a close eye on the animals and frequently visiting the grounds.
"Naming the newborn zebra after Yardena is a deeply moving gesture," said Hilla Feldman Gera, spokesperson for the Ramat Gan Safari. "Yardena has known and loved the safari for years, making this a natural and joyous way to celebrate her milestone birthday."
Arazi was visibly touched by the gesture and shared a humorous anecdote from a past visit involving a zebra encounter. She recalled feeding an avocado to a zebra, only to receive a playful nip when the fruit proved too small, teaching her a valuable lesson about not feeding the park's wildlife directly.
"This is a heartwarming and wonderful gift. I certainly plan to come and meet the zebra Yardena face-to-face very soon," Arazi remarked.
