Yael Elkana lands lead role in new drama series
The Israeli actress and model continues to build her career with a new prestigious project. She will star in a drama series based on a true crime case that shocked the nation.
Actress and model Yael Elkana continues to establish her public status and enrich her career with high-profile projects. It has now been confirmed that she has landed a new, prestigious role.
According to "HaYom," Elkana has been cast in the lead role of the psychological drama "Catching a Killer" (Litpos Rotzeach), produced by Kan 11. The series is based on a true story and the book by journalist Omri Assenheim.
Elkana will play Gili Maron, the wife of the investigator at the center of the case that drives the series' plot. The cast also includes Evelin Hagoel, Asaf Fri, and other notable actors.
The series focuses on the Shimon Cooper case — one of the most chilling stories in Israeli history. For years, Cooper posed as a Mossad agent, forming relationships with divorced women and gaining the trust of their families. He eventually married them, transferred their assets to his name, and was later convicted of murdering his wives by disguising their deaths as suicides.
This fascinating case was first broadcast as an investigative report by Assenheim on "Uvda" and later adapted into a book. Now, the new drama will bring these events to the screen in an authentic manner.
"Catching a Killer" is written and directed by Moish Goldberg, one of the creators of "Aleph," "Michael," "Life as a Rumor," and "Public Defender Files." Produced by Kastina Communications, the series is expected to air on Kan 11 and Kan BOX in early 2027.
As recently reported, Yael Elkana was also chosen to voice the character of Karen Beverly in the Hebrew version of "Toy Story 5."
