Wizz Air Expands Israel Operations with Dozens of Weekly Flights
Wizz Air has announced a major expansion in Israel, resuming five frozen routes including London Gatwick and boosting frequencies on 11 existing European routes from Ben Gurion Airport.
The low-cost airline Wizz Air announced on Monday a significant expansion of its operations in Israel. The move includes adding dozens of weekly flights at Ben Gurion Airport, resuming frozen routes, and increasing frequencies to key European destinations. According to the company, ticket sales for all flights have already opened on its website and mobile application.
At the heart of this expansion is the resumption of five popular routes starting this week. The most notable is the route to London Gatwick Airport, which will operate five times a week. Alongside this, the airline is resuming flights to two highly demanded destinations in Italy: Catania in Sicily (four weekly flights) and Venice (three weekly flights). Additionally, flights to two destinations in Romania, Cluj and Iasi, are resuming with a frequency of two weekly flights each.
In parallel, Wizz Air is boosting its existing flight schedule across 11 different routes, significantly increasing seat capacity from Israel. The most substantial increase is on the Budapest route, which will jump from 14 to 21 weekly flights, averaging three daily flights. The Milan route will double from seven to 14 weekly flights, and the Rome route will increase from 12 to 14 weekly flights.
The list of reinforced routes also includes Bucharest (increasing from 11 to 14 weekly flights), Athens, Naples, and Bratislava (all rising from five to seven flights per week), Sofia (from six to seven flights), Vilnius (from two to four flights), Warsaw (from four to five flights), and Varna (from two to three weekly flights).
This expansion comes amid strong demand for European vacations and is expected to intensify competition against both Israeli and foreign airlines, particularly on urban leisure and classic tourism destinations.
