UK Teacher Faces Trial Over Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student
A former student testified at Winchester Crown Court in the UK, detailing an alleged sexual relationship with his 30-year-old PE teacher, Bronwyn James, who denies the charges.
The trial of 30-year-old physical education teacher Bronwyn James continues at Winchester Crown Court in the United Kingdom, where a former student has provided detailed testimony regarding an alleged illicit sexual relationship.
Student's Testimony
The witness, who was 16 at the time of the alleged events, described how the relationship began with messages on Snapchat and mutual flirting before escalating to private meetings at her home, where they engaged in sexual activity on multiple occasions.
According to his testimony, the relationship also spilled over into their school in Southampton, where they spent extended periods together and were almost caught by a senior staff member.
"At the time, I was overwhelmed and it felt great, but today I understand that I was groomed," the young man told the court.
Defense Denial
James's defense team strongly denies all charges. Her attorney focused on inconsistencies between the young man's court testimony and his initial statements to the police, highlighting his inability to recall specific details. The teacher maintains that no sexual relationship occurred and claims another student prompted the allegations.
This case is part of a broader legal matter that emerged last year, in which James was accused of sexual offenses involving three minor students. In August 2025, she pleaded guilty to a separate charge of unlawful sexual communication with a minor girl but continues to deny all other charges. The trial resumed recently after the discharge of the original jury.
