WhatsApp is rolling out a new search feature for iOS users, introducing a convenient magnifying glass button that appears when scrolling up in chats to easily find media and links.
WhatsApp is rolling out a new search feature designed to make finding shared media, links, and documents within chats and groups significantly easier. According to reports from WABetaInfo, the update is currently reaching early users on iOS with version 26.36.74 of the application.
New Quick-Access Search Button
Instead of burying the search functionality within menus, the new interface introduces a dedicated magnifying glass button in the top right corner of the chat window, appearing just below the contact or group name.
The new search tool appears automatically the moment you start scrolling upward in a chat, streamlining the process of looking through past messages, media, and shared links.
Availability and Platforms
Users can still jump to specific dates if they recall when a message was sent but forgot its exact wording. The feature is also expanding to WhatsApp Channels, allowing readers to filter through high-volume content efficiently.
The feature is currently deploying gradually to iPhone users worldwide. No official timeline has been announced yet for the release of the updated search interface on Android devices.
