Manor Solomon returned to West Ham's starting lineup on Wednesday evening after coming off the bench in their previous defeat to West Bromwich, but the Hammers suffered a crushing 3:0 first-half deficit away against Cardiff City. West Ham is heading toward its third consecutive defeat, pushing pressure at the East London club to unprecedented heights.

Following a swift managerial shakeup that saw Nuno Espirito Santo dismissed and Scott Parker appointed in his place, the 46-year-old English manager made his debut on the touchline at the Cardiff Stadium. Parker, who previously played for the club between 2007 and 2011, faces an urgent task to steer the Hammers back toward the upper echelons of the standings, though Wednesday's reality proved far harsher than planned.

The hero of the evening for Cardiff was Jack Moylan—the same forward who scored in the Republic of Ireland's 3:0 victory over Israel a few weeks ago while displaying a defiant black armband. Moylan opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a thunderous strike into the top corner, with Solomon standing nearby as a helpless spectator. He doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 37th minute and completed a stunning hat-trick in the 39th minute with a precise header following a corner kick.

Cardiff boasts a distinct Irish contingent: Moylan's third goal was assisted by Joel Bagan, who appeared as a substitute in both Nations League matches against Israel, while the team is managed by Brian Barry-Murphy, also Irish. Meanwhile, Lisav Eissat started in the lineup for Bristol City as they hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
