Weapons Seized and Two Arrested in Northern Israel Security Operations
Security forces in northern Israel seized weapons including a Kalashnikov rifle, pistols, and a grenade, arresting two suspects in Sakhnin and Nazareth following separate incidents.
Three separate security operations in northern Israel led to the arrest of suspects and the seizure of weapons, including a Kalashnikov rifle, pistols, ammunition, and a fragmentation grenade.
During an operation in an open area near Yarka, Border Police officers discovered a hidden bag containing a Kalashnikov assault rifle, two fully loaded magazines, 7.62 mm bullets, and various weapon parts. The seized items were transferred to the Western Galilee police station for further investigation.
In Sakhnin, a 23-year-old local resident was arrested minutes after allegedly opening fire at a residential home and a vehicle. The suspect fled the scene on an electric scooter while wearing a helmet and gloves. Upon noticing a police patrol car, he stopped the scooter, discarded a pistol, and attempted to flee on foot by climbing a gate, but was apprehended by officers. The loaded pistol was recovered at the scene. Following the investigation, the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment and requested his detention until the end of legal proceedings.
Simultaneously, in Nazareth, security forces identified a suspicious vehicle and signaled the driver to stop. The driver attempted to flee, throwing a pistol and a fragmentation grenade out of the window during the pursuit. Officers arrested the suspect, a resident of Nazareth, and his remand was extended by the court until September 23.
