Minister of Development of the Negev and the Galilee Yitzhak Wasserlauf, a member of the Otzma Yehudit party, faced a hostile verbal confrontation while visiting a medical center in Tel Aviv with his newborn baby, who was less than a week old.

Verbal Assault at a Medical Center

While walking through the hospital corridors for a routine medical checkup with his infant son, Wasserlauf was recognized by a woman who began shouting insults and political taunts at him. Footage of the incident shows the woman pursuing the minister through the halls.

"Yitzhak Wasserlauf, Minister of the Negev and the Galilee, how are you not ashamed to show your face here?" she shouted. "Ben-Gvirist, Kahanist, I thought you moved to the Galilee, didn't you? What are you doing here in Tel Aviv?"

Despite the minister remaining silent and ignoring the taunts while continuing his walk, the woman persisted, shouting, "Shame on you! October 7 is written on your forehead. Walking around like some peacock! Go to the Galilee, I thought you were the Minister of the Galilee!"

Social Media Amplification

The video was subsequently published on social media by Kaplan protest activist Ami Dror, who openly encouraged such confrontations. Alongside the footage, Dror wrote: "It is a must to pursue them everywhere!", prompting widespread online reactions and severe criticism from commentators across the political spectrum regarding the targeting of a public official accompanied by a newborn infant.

Context of Previous Threats

This incident adds to a history of hostility and security concerns surrounding Wasserlauf. Last year, the minister was subjected to severe online threats on his personal messaging apps, including disturbing images of Yahya Sinwar alongside anti-Israel messages and digital harassment.

Reacting to previous threats, Yitzhak Wasserlauf stated at the time: "Attempts at intimidation and threats will not deter me. I will continue to work for the residents of the Negev, the Galilee, and all citizens of Israel."
