Brazen theft: Driver steals wheel from another car to replace his own

A discharged soldier from the Jerusalem area, while returning from a trip to the Kinneret, resorted to a brazen act after getting a flat tire. According to the investigation, the young man stopped in Beit She'an, identified a Honda Civic matching his own, and dismantled one of its wheels. He mounted the stolen wheel onto his vehicle and drove away, leaving the victim's car propped up on a pile of stones.

Chief Sergeant Major Kfir Avitan, a senior investigator with the Beit She'an police, stated: "On July 19, a complaint was filed regarding the theft. While it may seem like a minor incident, it was an outrageous act. The car owner, a female soldier, was astonished to find her vehicle resting on stones."

Police reviewed local security footage, which helped them track the suspect's escape route and identify his license plate. Within two days, the suspect was traced and apprehended at a routine police checkpoint while driving toward Jerusalem. During questioning, he expressed remorse, explaining that he was a discharged soldier and could not afford to fix his own flat tire. The case has been referred to the district prosecution for indictment.

"This is every driver's nightmare," the victim said. "I never imagined this could happen here. We had to spend 3,000 shekels on new wheels, and the car was out of commission for a week. I am furious, and I hope he receives the punishment he deserves."
