An advanced technological security and monitoring system will soon be operational in the city of Rahat. The system will continuously monitor public spaces through a wide deployment of cameras in central locations and hotspots where there is a risk of incidents requiring rapid intervention by emergency and rescue forces.

The monitoring equipment will be connected directly to the police control room. This will allow for the rapid identification of occurrences in real time and ensure the immediate dispatch of police forces, Magen David Adom, firefighters, and municipal maintenance teams to address hazards and infrastructure malfunctions.

The system is designed to assist in the prevention and rapid identification of shooting incidents and violent conflicts. Following increased enforcement, police operations, and recent resource investments, a stabilization in efforts to reduce violence and crime in the city is already evident.

The technological equipment will be installed primarily at high points and on dedicated masts to prevent damage or sabotage. Alongside stationary surveillance, a dedicated drone will be deployed, capable of reaching any point in the city quickly to expand the observation and response capabilities of security forces.

The municipality's security officer, Wahid Sana, told Maariv that integrating advanced technology into the municipal security system is a critical step in strengthening the personal security of Rahat's residents:

"Our goal is to create effective deterrence, shorten the response times of emergency forces, and ensure that every resident in the city feels protected and safe at all times."

This project is being established in cooperation with the Bloomberg Foundation, the Authority for Community Security, and the Western Negev Cluster. It constitutes a milestone in a series of strategic projects aimed at eradicating crime and strengthening security in Rahat and the entire Western Negev region.

To prevent friction and foreign interests, it was determined that the monitoring and operation of the technological center will be carried out outside the municipality's direct jurisdiction, through the Western Negev Cluster and authorized bodies, in accordance with a professional concept that maintains neutrality and operational independence.
