Irit Strauss, from a prominent Israeli business family, married her partner of the last two years in a small family event held in Herzliya Pituach. The couple chose to keep the wedding away from the spotlight.
Irit Strauss and Harel Shapira were married this past Monday, the day before the eve of Tu B'Av, after two years of dating. As reported by TMI, the wedding ceremony was held at Strauss's home on Galei Tchelet Street in Herzliya Pituach, in the presence of family members and a small circle of friends.
Strauss, one of the controlling shareholders of the Strauss Group and daughter of the late businessman Michael Strauss, was previously married to businessman Leon Koffler, owner of the Super-Pharm chain. Her partner, Harel Shapira, is among the controlling shareholders of the Shapir Engineering group, one of Israel's largest companies in the fields of infrastructure, construction, and development.
The couple chose to marry in an intimate family setting, far from the spotlight and without a massive production. Although these are two of the most prominent names in the Israeli business world, they preferred to maintain discretion throughout their relationship and surrounding the wedding event itself.
Beyond the personal story, this marks a union between two of the most influential business families in Israel. Irit Strauss is a controlling shareholder of the Strauss Group alongside her siblings, Ofra and Adi Strauss, while Harel Shapira manages the Shapir Engineering and Industry group together with his brothers. According to past estimates, Strauss's wealth is valued at approximately 800 million dollars, while the Shapira family's wealth is estimated at around 2 billion dollars.
