Elon Musk is leading another dramatic step to reshape his social media network. According to recent reports, the X platform (formerly Twitter) will begin notifying users openly and explicitly whenever governments and state authorities demand to censor, restrict, or completely delete their posts.
The billionaire, who frequently champions free speech, stated that "any censorship requested by governments will henceforth be completely transparent." Under the new system, users whose content is restricted will not only receive a laconic deletion notice from the system, but will also be exposed to the specific identity of the government authority behind the request, as well as the legal justification upon which it was based.
This decision comes amid growing clashes between X and authorities worldwide, with particular prominence given to legal battles in countries like Brazil and India.
