US Vice President JD Vance expressed optimism on Monday regarding the possibility of reaching a negotiated settlement with Iran, stating that some progress has already been made in ongoing talks. According to Vance, the US administration intends to pursue diplomatic efforts in a bid to secure an agreement.
"The President and I feel pretty good about the prospects of reaching a negotiated settlement. We will continue to push in that direction," Vance said, adding, "We have definitely made some progress. We'll see if we can achieve further progress."
The Vice President's remarks follow statements by US President Donald Trump regarding the confrontation with Iran. Trump asserted that the military capabilities of the regime in Tehran have been severely impaired, specifically targeting naval and air forces as well as air defense systems.
Alongside declarations regarding military setbacks and the economic crisis in Iran, Trump also addressed the prospect of a deal with Tehran, stating, "They want to reach an agreement, and that can certainly happen."
