The United States imposed sanctions on Iran's automotive and railway sectors, targeting key industries as part of the Trump administration's efforts to cripple the Islamic Republic's economy. CNBC reported the development.

The U.S. Treasury Department announced that several companies linked to Iran's metals industry, including a Chinese subsidiary of Middle Eastern machinery firm HEPCO, were also designated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). These measures are part of an ongoing economic campaign against Iran.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the Iranian regime's ability to finance its war machine has been significantly reduced through economic isolation. He emphasized that these actions lay the groundwork for the U.S. and its partners to dry up the regime's revenues once and for all.
