The United States military has deployed two additional Patriot air defense batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in recent weeks to protect critical oil and gas facilities, according to US officials and a regional source.

Strategic Deterrence and Regional Security

The deployments aim to reassure Washington's regional allies and ensure the protection of vital energy infrastructure ahead of potential military actions. US President Donald Trump stated that he is considering a renewed campaign against Iran if Tehran fails to reach a diplomatic agreement.

"Now I have to make a decision: either Iran signs the agreement, or it will no longer exist," President Trump said.

Earlier in August, Saudi and Qatari leaders lobbied against sweeping military strikes due to fears of Iranian retaliation against their energy assets. These concerns prompted Washington to temporarily shift toward a strategy of maximum economic pressure.

Military Buildup in the Middle East

In addition to the Patriot batteries, the US military is reinforcing its presence with warships, fighter jets, and naval strike groups. The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group departed San Diego and is expected to arrive in the Middle East by mid-November, joining the USS George H.W. Bush and the USS George Washington.

Furthermore, the amphibious ready group Makin Island, carrying thousands of Marines, departed for the region to bolster tactical readiness by late November.
