Upper Galilee Council Head Demands IDF Sweeps Following Fatal Incident
Upper Galilee Council head Asaf Langleben demanded IDF sweeps in open areas following a fatal incident, while affirming that regional hiking activities will continue.
Following a fatal incident in the Upper Galilee, the head of the Upper Galilee Regional Council, Asaf Langleben, has demanded that the IDF conduct thorough sweeps of open areas accessible to hikers, draw lessons, and prevent similar tragedies.
In an interview with 103FM, Langleben noted that children participating in trips have been evacuated from the area and are being reunited with their families at Kibbutz Yiftah. He emphasized that the Upper Galilee remains a premier tourism region while acknowledging the heavy military presence in the area.
Continuation of Tourism Activities
Despite the severity of the incident, the council head stressed that hiking activities in the region will continue. Langleben stated that education through travel and a love for the country must persist as residents live and raise families along the border.
We are asking and demanding that the IDF draw lessons and make every effort to ensure this event does not recur, even if it requires many soldiers to conduct field scans.
Demands for IDF Sweeps
Langleben pointed out that the incident occurred on a scenic route in a public area rather than a closed military zone. He called on the military to increase security measures and clear open spaces of unexploded ordnance to guarantee public safety.
