Reshet 13 star reveals: "A false complaint of violence was filed against me"
Israel Deutsch, a participant in the Haredi matchmaking show "Vort," has spoken out about a year-long legal battle. He revealed that a police investigation into alleged violence was closed for lack of guilt, though the aftermath continues to impact his career in the security sector.
Israel Deutsch and his wife Maayan Ruth Shalom, who were matched on the Reshet 13 matchmaking show "Vort," continue to make headlines due to various events surrounding their lives.
However, it appears that their publicized relationship has faced significant challenges. In a conversation with C14, Deutsch revealed that during his divorce proceedings from his ex-wife, an investigation was opened against him on suspicion of violence and violation of a legal order. According to him, the investigation lasted about a year before the case was eventually closed.
He explained that the conflict stemmed from a dispute over visitation rights while he was serving in the IDF reserves. "I had set visitation times, but I couldn't meet them because I was in the reserves. In short, it was a whole ordeal. I was in this movie for a year." Deutsch was not satisfied with the police's initial decision to close the case for "lack of evidence" and fought to change the reason for the closure. He hired a lawyer and eventually succeeded in having the case closed for "lack of guilt."
"I never raised a hand," he added.
"Do you know how many such stories I hear? You don't understand at all. Thousands," Deutsch said, expressing his frustration regarding the need for fundamental change. "People have lost everything because of a false complaint." He argued that a clear distinction must be made between verbal spousal arguments and physical violence.
Although the legal saga is behind him, he still bears the consequences. Because his primary career for years has been in the security field, the investigation led to restrictions on his permit to carry a firearm, which has severely damaged his ability to work. "Since the complaint, they basically took my gun and restricted me," he said.
Deutsch noted that he is currently working with authorities to remove these restrictions and is seeking to bring the issue to the attention of Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir. "I am trying to reach Ben Gvir with this issue; I am activating my connections," he added.
As previously reported, about two weeks ago, Deutsch and his new wife shared happy news: the couple announced they are expecting their first child.
