Will a social media post lead to a breakthrough in the disappearance of Eldar Dayan?

The police are investigating whether the missing person Eldar Dayan has made contact with his family members in recent days. The development stems from the fact that Dayan's girlfriend posted on social media that he had contacted his father from his hiding place and spoken with him. Police investigators are expected to take testimony from the father to verify whether his son did indeed contact him.

Yesterday, the detention of his two friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, was extended for the third time. The two are suspected of involvement in a brawl with five residents of Petah Tikva and an attempt to run them over. In addition, as revealed in "Hayom", they are suspected of threatening Dayan with murder, and it is being investigated whether his disappearance is related to these threats.

Both are detained until tomorrow, and it is possible that the police will ask the court to extend their detention once again. Attorneys Guy Ein-Zvi and Roi Lang on behalf of the Public Defender's Office responded:

"The two are being held by the police in detention as hostages until Eldar Dayan is found."

Dayan arrived from Dimona with his two friends, Peretz and Barberman, to Petah Tikva, and the three met five young people they know. A brawl developed between the two groups, during which, according to the suspicion, the three friends from Dimona tried to run over the members of the second group, and may have even hit some of them, although these were minor injuries.

Afterwards, they parked the vehicle at a gas station in Petah Tikva, tore off its license plates, and left the scene. While Peretz and Barberman returned to Dimona, Dayan's tracks disappeared. The police estimate that he is hiding in a safe house in Petah Tikva, but the reason for this is unclear.
