Mother and daughter stabbed in Ramle — father arrested on suspicion of assault

A mother and her daughter were stabbed Friday night outside their home in the Juwarish neighborhood of Ramle. Police suspect the background to the incident is a family dispute. Shortly after the stabbing, the father of the family, in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the act.

The report was received at the Magen David Adom (MDA) 101 emergency center at 22:51. Medical teams summoned to the scene provided treatment to a 19-year-old young woman and her 42-year-old mother, who suffered penetrating wounds, and evacuated them to the Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital. Police stated that the daughter's condition was defined as serious and the mother's as moderate, while MDA reported that both were evacuated in moderate condition.

Behind the stabbing incident lies, according to suspicion, a family dispute. This is a family known to the authorities due to prolonged internal blood feuds between different factions within it, conflicts that have already led in the past to severe violent incidents.

Officers from the Ramle station opened an investigation and forensic experts collected findings from the scene in an attempt to trace the sequence of events that preceded the stabbing. As part of the investigation, the father of the family was arrested, and the police are now examining his part and the exact background to the incident.

The suspect is expected to be brought tomorrow to the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva, where the police will request to extend his detention in accordance with the progress of the investigation.
