Well-known journalist received a call in the middle of the night: "Your car is being stolen right now"
Political commentator Nechama Duek received a dramatic message from the Ituran company while on vacation abroad, and realized that a frantic police chase was underway for her property just minutes before it would have disappeared.

A phone call in the middle of the night is an event that causes anxiety for every Israeli, but for journalist and political commentator Nechama Duek, the call that arrived early Wednesday morning caught her far from home.
She was in the middle of a vacation in Greece. On the line were representatives of the Ituran company with a surprising question: "Are you in the car and driving towards Modiin right now?". Duek, who replied in confusion from sleep that she was actually abroad, immediately understood the situation. The answer from the other side did not take long to come: "If the key is with you, the car is being stolen right now".
"Early Wednesday morning, the mobile phone rang. I answered from sleep with the very Israeli reaction: 'What happened?'.
From the other side they said: 'We are speaking from Ituran, are you in the car and driving towards Modiin right now?'.
I: 'I am on vacation in Greece. What happened?'.
Ituran: 'If you are not in the car and did not give the key to anyone, then the car has been stolen. We notified…'"
From here, the event moved at an especially fast pace. The tracking company alerted the Israel Police, and forces on the ground began a chase after the vehicle that was moving along the main axes. Just 20 minutes later, another call was received, this time from the police. The patrol cars managed to surround the vehicle, arrest the thief, and take him into custody, all this just a few minutes before he managed to cross the checkpoints and disappear into the territories of the Palestinian Authority.
Although the vehicle was rescued in time, the physical damage is evident; the interior of the car was left smashed and significant damage was caused to the bodywork. However, Duek clarified that this is the easy part of the incident and that everything is repairable. What makes the story extraordinary is the "deja vu" element because this is the second time that the exact same vehicle has been stolen from her, from the very same street, almost a year since the previous case. Last time too, the scenario ended in an identical method and the vehicle was returned thanks to the cooperation between Ituran and the police.
Duek chose to share the nightly experience on her X account, while placing emphasis on the value of gratitude. Alongside the description of the drama, she showered praise on the quick and determined response of the police officers and the tracking teams, who managed to thwart the theft in real time and restore her peace of mind, even from a distance of hundreds of kilometers.
