A 17-year-old minor from Jaffa was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after being found in possession of approximately 50 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, police reported on Sunday. The arrest followed a traffic violation committed late last month, but the subsequent investigation raised suspicions that the minor had been operating as a drug dealer throughout the central region and Gush Dan.
The incident occurred late on the night of July 28, when Tel Aviv YASAM officers spotted the minor riding a motorcycle on Nes LeGoyim Street in Jaffa, in an area where entry is prohibited. Upon stopping him, police conducted a search and discovered the suspected cocaine hidden in his clothing.
Suspected drug distribution across the center
The minor was transferred to the Jaffa police station for questioning, where he was remanded into custody. During the investigation, police identified four separate instances in which he allegedly sold dangerous drugs to various individuals in the central region.
According to police, an evidentiary basis has been established for charges of drug trafficking and possession of narcotics not intended for personal use. A prosecutor's statement was filed over the weekend, and the court has extended his detention ahead of the expected filing of an indictment in the coming days.
