Fragmentation grenade thrown at a restaurant in Rishon LeZion, no injuries

A fragmentation grenade was thrown tonight (between Saturday and Sunday), shortly after midnight, at a restaurant in Rishon LeZion, and an explosion was heard at the scene, but there were no injuries. Police officers from the Rishon LeZion station who arrived at the scene in the city's entertainment area opened an investigation into the incident and began checking security cameras in the area.

On Thursday, a grenade was thrown at a residence in the Tzameret neighborhood in northern Tel Aviv, and this was the second time that same week. The incident ended without injuries, but only minor damage was caused to one of the windows. Officers from the Yarkon District and Tel Aviv District sappers began an investigation and the collection of findings; the background to the incident is criminal.

Meanwhile, the police updated that same evening that another suspect was arrested for involvement in the arson of a Japanika branch in Givatayim last month - an 18-year-old from Rehovot - this after a suspect was arrested last month for involvement in the arson, also a resident of Rehovot in his 20s. The detention of the suspect arrested yesterday was extended until August 11.

A day earlier, the police opened an investigation into two incidents of suspected throwing of munitions. In Herzliya, an explosion was heard near a well-known business in the city, allegedly following the throwing of a stun grenade, with no damage and no injuries. At the same time, a fragmentation grenade was thrown near a house in the Denia neighborhood in Haifa, and damage was caused to vehicles at the scene, but there were no injuries. Officers from the Carmel District and police sappers began collecting findings, and it was reported that in both incidents the background is criminal.

The events join a series of cases in recent weeks, following an escalation in the war between criminal organizations, with a wave of grenade throwing, shooting, and arson - in many cases at Japanika branches. The police suspect that all the incidents are related to the struggle between the Musli and Jarushi crime families, and there is a suspicion of an attempt to harm the restaurant chain owned by businessman Barak Abramov. About three weeks ago, the head of the crime organization Yossi Musli was arrested, suspected of involvement in the "grenade war" as part of the financial dispute with the Jarushi organization.
