Elderly woman killed after being hit by a car in Tel Aviv, 80-year-old man arrested on suspicion of fleeing the scene
Police arrested an 80-year-old man on suspicion of hitting an elderly woman on Bnei Efraim Street and fleeing the scene. She was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition, where her death was pronounced.

An elderly woman in her 80s was killed today, Wednesday, after being hit by a car on Bnei Efraim Street in northern Tel Aviv. Police arrested an 80-year-old man on suspicion of a hit-and-run.
According to the investigation, after the driver hit the pedestrian and fled, traffic police and officers from the Tel Aviv North station in the Yarkon district conducted an operation to locate him and arrested him shortly after. The driver was taken for questioning.
The report of the incident was received at 11:26 at the MADA 101 emergency center. The injured woman was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital, where doctors pronounced her death.
Following this accident, the number of people killed in traffic accidents in 2026 reached 300. Although this is a 3% decrease compared to the number of fatalities on the roads at the same date in 2025, August was the deadliest month in two decades, with 44 fatalities.
