Israeli Sports Exhibition 'Unbreakable' Opens at Berlin City Hall
The "Unbreakable" exhibition detailing Israeli sports since October 7 is opening at Berlin City Hall, featuring powerful artifacts and stories of resilience.
Three years after the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, the exhibition "Unbreakable" by the World Jewish Sports Museum at Kfar Maccabiah is set to be displayed at the Berlin City Hall. The exhibition tells the story of Israeli sports since October 7, highlighting resilience and recovery.
Curated by Adi Rubenstein, the exhibition is a collaboration between the museum and the World Jewish Congress. It will be showcased in the main hall of the German capital's city hall at the invitation of Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, as part of memorial events marking three years since the massacre.
Remembering Through Sports
The two-week exhibition highlights the role of sports in the rehabilitation journey of returned hostages, alongside Israeli athletic achievements during wartime. The opening event on Monday, October 5, will feature Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor, and Shir Harmesh, sister of the late Omer Harmesh from Kfar Aza, an avid Hapoel Tel Aviv fan.
"Unbreakable" is a unique exhibition that presents for the first time the story of sports in the shadow of war, reflecting a mix of sorrow, memory, and ultimate revival.
Authentic Artifacts on Display
Visitors will see authentic items telling powerful stories, including the bicycle of the late Lior Weizman, murdered in Sderot on October 7, the gold medal won by Artem Dolgopyat at the World Gymnastics Championships on that same day, and the goalkeeper gloves worn by Daniel Peretz at Bayern Munich.
